Pop Art and Retro Realism paintings

Some people think I was a popular artist in the 1930's who is long since deceased,  but in fact I am still very much alive and painting most every day.  Since the mid 1970’s I have produced a number of paintings which in art classification terms would fall into the categories of Pop Art and Retro Realism. These works have been inspired by old images which appeared on post cards, magazine advertisements, travel posters and on other ephemeral items.  They may seem familiar since many of them have been extensively published as actual posters and distributed around the world by Greg Young Publishing and others. However, they first came into being in my studio and they exist as original paintings, acrylic on canvas or watercolor paper, often presented in custom gold leaf frames.  Many are owned by art collectors.  Some of this series are still available. Direct commissions are often a possibility.

Whether created with the look of vintage travel posters, or with a timeless, quirky, contemporary spin, they offer a chance to travel to a different frame of mind, a respite from the pressures of modern life.  In a world of ever increasing speed and technology, they offer a moment, designed and frozen in time, meticulously drawn and painted and lettered layer upon layer.

Hope you enjoy them.
